The Truth of Forgiveness

In this week's message, Bill discusses forgiveness as an essential principle in the kingdom of God. To best understand it, we must see it from God's perspective — not just an intellectual idea.
Jesus Christ came to make a way for salvation and forgiveness because all of mankind has sinned, fallen short of the glory of God, and made ourselves enemies of God. When we realize that our choices, actions, and words are sins against God, it makes His offer of forgiveness transformative. What a gracious God would love us enough to send His son — giving His life so that we might have His.
And so, when others hurt or offend us, it should be natural for the forgiven by God to offer forgiveness themselves. Yet, when we refuse to forgive others despite receiving God's forgiveness, it makes us wicked and out of line with God's heart.
